INSTRUMENT CONFIGURATION AMCS
CONFIGURING A MIDI INSTRUMENT the Advance Music Construction System

SUBJECT

Instrument Configuration: Configuring a MIDI Instrument

SUMMARY

This part of the documentation explains how an Instrument Configuration
is performed. Similar operations in this system section have differing options
and only those are listed here. The Instrument Configuration is used to set
parameters for how the Instrument, Effect or Function behaves whilst being
played.

DESCRIPTION

The configuration for a MIDI Instrument has different options following
"continuous" from other Instrument types, only those options are listed below.
Most options will have arrow icons next to the setting to indicate that it can
be changed in a certain way, an arrow going right is to suggest that the content
can be edited via keyboard or the virtual keyboard in the parameter editor
section of the system, and arrows going up and down are to toggle or, increase
or decrease the current value.

	LENGTH

The transmission time is shown to the right of the Instrument
data length and is relative to the standard MIDI transmission speed of 3125Bps.
This is actually very important to large system exclusive transmissions which
cannot be broken up, as they will effect the overall playback timing of the cue
triggers.

	CHANNEL

Modifying the channel value to the next multiple of 16 will
imply the playback should route to an alternate MIDI interface. The route and
subchannel values are shown to the right of the channel value.

						Range: 0-255, Default: 0

	CONTINUOUS

Switching this option will cause the playback to either send the
message contained within the Instrument data once at the start of playback or
every time a cue is triggered.

						Default: YES

	RESET

This invokes the system to send a MIDI controller reset apon
starting playback.

						Default: NO

	TRANSPOSE

Changing this will offset the cue note key by the specified
value whilst playing.

						Range: 0-255, Default: 0

	VELOCITY

Altering this will reduce the cue velocities by the specified
amount whilst playing. This value is halved on playback due to its relation with
the MIDI command velocity (a maximum of 127).

						Range: 0-255, Default: 255
