INSTRUMENT CONFIGURATION AMCS
CONFIGURING A MIDI EFFECT the Advance Music Construction System

SUBJECT

Instrument Configuration: Configuring a MIDI Effect

SUMMARY

This part of the documentation explains how an Instrument Configuration
is performed. Similar operations in this system section have differing options
and only those are listed here. The Instrument Configuration is used to set
parameters for how the Instrument, Effect or Function behaves whilst being
played.

DESCRIPTION

The configuration for a MIDI Effect has different options following
"continuous" from other Instrument types, only those options are listed below.
Most options will have arrow icons next to the setting to indicate that it can
be changed in a certain way, an arrow going right is to suggest that the content
can be edited via keyboard or the virtual keyboard in the parameter editor
section of the system, and arrows going up and down are to toggle or, increase
or decrease the current value.

	LENGTH

The effect duration time is shown to the right of the Effect
Path Sample length and is relative to a centisecond rate.

	CHANNEL

Modifying the channel value to the next multiple of 16 will
imply the effect should route to an alternate MIDI interface. The route and
subchannel values are shown to the right of the channel value.

						Range: 0-255, Default: 0

	CONTINUOUS

Switching this option will cause the effect to either terminate
at the next loop ending or at the end of the Effect Path.

						Default: NO

	LOOP

Toggling this will invoke playback of the Effect Path to recur
in the loop markers whilst a cue trigger is held.

						Default: YES

	RESET

This invokes the system to send a MIDI reset apon starting to
play. This is important since MIDI Effects are not sensitive to the initial
state of the MIDI controller settings.

						Default: NO

	RATE

Changing this will increase or decrease the division of the rate
at which the Effect Path will be referenced during play.

						Range: 0-255, Default: 0

	DEPTH

Altering this will modify the amount the effect influences the
MIDI command parameters during play.

						Range: 0-255, Default: 255
